Iran/ Tehran/ IRCS- December 23th - Fourth introduction workshop on the theme of International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the principles of humanitarian communication and information for journalists and media press was held by the Red Crescent Society of Iran and the International Committee of the Red Cross mission in Tehran.
The workshop was held by participation of Iranian Red Crescent society (IRCS) International Affairs & IHL division, Public Relations general office and international committee of Red Cross (ICRC).
Forty-five participants of Iranian printed and online media and media experts of IRCS were attended in the workshop.
History, principles, missions and emblems of International Red cross and Red Crescent Movement, IFRC, ICRC and IRCS were introduced in the workshop.
In addition, media role for transforming humanitarian news in natural disasters and armed conflicts, in crisis management , method of humanitarian communication in ICRC were taught in the workshop.
Leili Khaleghi, director of the IRCS international protocols and communications in opening ceremony at the workshop said:"Our effort is to bring media reporters to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, including the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and 190 national Societies, to get accurate information about the activities of the Societies and the movement. Informing people about humanitarian actions at the community level and providing them with the right information about the risks of incidents and ways to deal with the risks posed by them are the important issues that will be a great help in addressing these issues in such workshops."
Instructors of the workshop were from IRCS and international committee of Red Cross mission in Tehran. Also regional spokesperson in near and the Middle East for the International Committee of the Red Cross Ralph El-Haj was invited to instruct in the workshop.
