IRCS, UN Missions close cooperation in Kermanshah Quake Operations

Iran/ Tehran/ IRCS _ January 10th _ The Iranian Red Crescent Society and United Nations missions in the Iranian capital, Tehran, met to review the joint operational plan to the victims of the 12 November earthquake in Kermanshah province, western Iran.

During the meeting, held in Tehran, the UN missions voiced their missions' readiness to join IRCS operations in the disaster that left 569 people dead in Kermanshah province.

For their part, IRCS representatives presented the services the society has taken in saving lives, providing shelter for the quake's survivors and psychological support.

The meeting was attended by Gary Lewis, United Nations Resident Representative in Tehran, representatives of the World Health Organization, UNESCO, the World Food Program, OCHA, UNICEF, FAO, UNHCR, UNFPA and UNDP in Tehran, IRCS’s Under-Secretary General of International Affairs and IHL, IRCS’s Head of Youth Organization, IRCS’s Deputy Head of Operation at the Relief and Rescue Organization, IRCS’s Director General of Health and Care, IRCS’s Director for international Operations and IFRC Representative in Iran.
