Tehran, 21 January 2018 – The Iranian Red Crescent society (IRCS) rendered relief services to 2,597 people affected by a recent blizzard.
Within the past 72 hours (From January 19 to 6 a.m. on January 21), 83 IRCS teams including 282 disasters relief workers were dispatched to relief the 2,597 snowstorm victims in East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Isfahan, Ilam, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Khuzestan, Zanjan, Semnan, Kordestan, Golestan, Lorestan, Fars, Ghazvin, Kermanshah, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Markazi and Mazandaran provinces.
Morteza Salimi, Head of the IRCS's Relief and Rescue Organization said that the Relief workers provided 154 people with emergency shelter.
He also noted that IRCS rescuers have been transferred one injured citizen to a nearby medical center. 291 trapped cars were also recovered from snow.
