TEHRAN, May. 9 (IRCS) _ Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) and Under-Secretary General for Voice Division of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on public trainings to prevent and reduce the effect of natural and man-made disasters.
The MoU has been signed between Mahmoud Mohammadi Nasab, IRCS Secretary General and Hamid Shah Abadi, Under-Secretary General for Voice of the IRIB.
The partnership aims to offer necessary training to public to prevent and decrease the effect of disasters. catching the participation of families to get general skills to reach a prepared community against the disasters and risks, changing public’s attitude and behavior against disasters, having an on time and accurate notification of disaster, as well as controlling the critical situation after important disaster by Radio are among the important aims of this MoU.
“Radio is an influential media. When people’s access to Television and Social Networks is cut during the disasters, Radio is a comprehensive, influential and effective for transferring information to public,” Remarked Mahmoud Mohammadi Nasab, IRCS Secretary General. “As crisis media, it can also undertake the duty of giving awareness and rendering necessary public trainings during disasters.”
According to the MoU, The Red Crescent is committed to provide content and resources of trainings and recommend experienced and professional trainers to radio for consultation and attending in programs.
