GENEVA, Jun. 27 (IRCS) _ Prof. Ali Asghar Peyvandi, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), delivered a report on IRCS activities in Kermanshah earthquake at Session of the Governing Board of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
IRCS President at the head of a delegation has attended the 37th Session of the Governing Board of the International Federation in Geneva. Iranian Red Crescent Society is a member of the Governing Board of the International Federation. The Federation’s Governing Board meets twice a year and has the authority to make certain decisions in between sessions of the General Assembly, which is the Federation’s supreme governing body. The Board ‘governs’ the Federation between two assemblies.
At the 3-day meeting held in Geneva, members of the Governing Board consider IFRC's 6-month financial and operational report, the strategy process of the Federation for 2030, the two-year youth commission's action plan for greater involvement of young people in the activities of the National Societies, the report of the Compliance and Mediation Committee on violations of seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement by a number of National Societies, and the issue of developing cash assistance and strengthening of National Societies.
Before the main meetings of the Governing Board, working groups of the Governing Board were formed and members of the Governing Board were selected in four topic groups of "Efficient and Effective Humanitarian Responses, Governance Excellence and Gender Diversity, Formation of the Movement's Future and Strong National Societies and Volunteers." During the next four years, the selectees will attend working group meetings along with the main meetings of the Board of Governors, take the necessary steps in accordance with the tasks of each working group.
