IRCS to Ramp up Relief Bases across Iran

ZAHEDAN, July 05, (IRCS) _Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) is going to scale up relief bases across the country, says IRCS President.

Addressing a press conference was held at the end of IRCS President's visit to Sistan and Baluchestan province, Prof. Ali Asghar Peyvandi announced that IRCS had been planning to increase the number of its relief bases within next month and the bases will be launched during the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the Government Week.

At present, Red Crescent enjoys 580 relief bases around Iran.

Referring to Water Offering campaign for solving a drought that is challenging Sistan and Baluchestan, IRCS President said that Red Crescent plans cash and in-kind public contributions, as well as Red Crescent participation to improve region's water conditions and livelihood of the citizens.

IRCS has also planned to provide food packages and dispatch health caravans to the deprived regions of Sistan and Baluchestan.

Mr. Peyvandi also announced that in the future, 3 relief choppers and 75 ambulances and relief vehicles would be added to Red Crescent facilities.

Presently, IRCS enjoys 24  relief choppers, rendering relief and rescue operations and transferring relief supplies to disaster regions.

He also reminded that Summer Relief and Rescue Campaign of Iranian Red Crescent was being implemented.

1200 relief bases are rendering services such as Relief and rescue, first aid, recovering of injuries in accidents, etc.

Red Crescent President left Tehran for Sistan and Baluchestan Province in southeastern Iran on Tuesday to visit the drought-stricken areas in the region.
