Iranian Red Crescent helicopters reach 23

In the presence of Es’haq Jahangiri, First Vice-President of Iran, Dr. Seyed Amir Mohsen Ziaee, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society talked with journalists and reporters on the sideline of a ceremony for unveiling six Red Crescent rescue helicopters on 8 October 2016 in Tehran.



"Today, we are witnessing the joining of six Bell 412EP helicopters which are one of the most advanced helicopters in the world that is capable of flying and landing in water and flying at night. These helicopters will surely increase the relief and rescue capacities of the Iranian Red Crescent for humanitarian operations,"

He also added that the arrival of these six helicopters in the Iranian Red Crescent air fleet would increase the number of Red Crescent helicopters to 23 and hopefully by the spring of next year the number would reach 26 aircrafts.



"Iranian Red Crescent enjoys 20 air rescue posts across the country," pointed out the President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society. "We can cover 100 percent of accidents in our country by using these helicopters and all helicopters of the Iranian Red Crescent will have capabilities for relief and rescue assistance in the event of a disaster,"

He also explained about equipping all Red Crescent's relief and rescue posts with new relief sets and said, "This sets will be distributed amongst 1000 relief and rescue posts within 3 coming weeks,". Dr. Ziaee also pointed out that, "Iranian Red Crescent will not wait for disasters and we are focusing more in the area of disaster prevention, risk reduction, risk-based preparation, specialised and public educations,"
