Iranian Red Crescent Rendering Medical Services to Pilgrims in Iraq

As previous years, Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent reported about Red Crescent humanitarian services during the religious ceremony of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar especially day of Ashura which marks the climax of the Remembrance of Muharram on 12 October 2016.



Iranian Red Crescent Society has been rendering its humanitarian and medical services to 25,805 pilgrims in Karbal, in which 20,850 persons received medical services from Red Crescent doctors and medical staff, 4150 persons received First Aid services such as wound dressing, injection and checking blood pressure and 155 persons received serum therapy.

The medical services were rendered to pilgrims via a team of 50 medical personnel including General Practitioner, Surgeon, Pediatrician, Orthopedic specialist, Cardiologist, Otolaryngologist, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine specialist, Nurse and Health care workers in 5 medical tents besides the Medical Center of Iranian Red Crescent Society in Karbala.

According to Head of Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, Dr. Seyed Ali Marashi, for rendering better medical services to pilgrims in this year, Iranian Red Crescent Society dispatched 6 ambulances to Iraq, in addition to the required medicine and drug.
