Relief and Rescue Organisation of the Iranian Red Crescent held the twelfth course on Urban Search and Rescue in Disasters (debris) for Red Crescent search and rescue teams from across the country in Gilan province.
Dr. Ahmad Soltani, deputy head for planning and specialized training in Relief and Rescue Organisation of the Iranian Red Crescent said that 150 members of national search and rescue teams in urban disasters (debris) took part in this course to increase their capacities in providing search and rescue services in urban disasters. Six facilitators trained participants during the two-day course.
He pointed out that four search and rescue workshops have been held in this course. "In regard to the need for entrance to the damaged buildings, relief and rescue workers require to increase their capabilities in this regard,"
Also, participants in this course got familiar with the use and maintenance of proper facilities and equipments.
