One dies in western Iran after snow tunnel collapses

According to the reports from Relief and Rescue Organisation of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, two mountain relief and rescue teams from the Red Crescent branch in Azna in Lorestan province immediately were deployed at 16:30 p.m. on late Friday after a telephone call to the Iranian Red Crescent on the collapse of the snow tunnel in a village, 30 km away from the city of Azna. In addition, Red Crescent emergency response teams were also deployed for relief and rescue operations for further assistance.

Three operational teams from Lorestan Red Crescent provincial branch consisting of 18 Red Crescent rescuers also arrived in the site by helicopter with relief and rescue supplies, and began search and rescue operations to assist the probable affected.

So far, the dead body of one villager who was buried under the snow has been removed with the efforts of the Red Crescent Operation teams. Red Crescent relief and rescue workers are still operating and searching the disaster affected areas in order to ensure that there is no missing person.
