70,000 IRCS Volunteers cooperate with Health Ministry to combat Coronavirus
TEHRAN, 15 November 2020 (IRCS) - On the last day of online sessions of Governing Board of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) President Dr Karim Hemmati presented a report on the Society’s actions after the Coronavirus emerged in Iran.
According to IRCS president, volunteers of the Iranian Red Crescent carried out operations to measure fever of 21 million travelers and passengers at the entrance and exits of the Iranian cities since the Corona crisis began in the country and livelihood parcels were distributed among millions of people who were affected by the pandemic.
Referring to Ameran-e Salamat Campaign (Health Enforcers) across the country (October 26- November 5), Dr Hemmati said:“Red Crescent set up 4,300 posts in the country, distributing masks and health kits among the people. Then we signed an MOU with the Health Ministry to continue this work step by step,”
“70,000 Red Crescent volunteers joined the Health Ministry to help Covid-19 control across the country. Our people trust our volunteers,” added IRCS president.
“Despite all the financial problems that we have, Corona, along with other services, is a priority along for the Society so that it offers the best of its services to the people with the help of the volunteers and gain their confidence,” he added.
