IRCS Screens more than 87,000 travellers for Covid-19 in borders

TEHRAN, 2 April 2021 (IRCS) - Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS)’s relief workers have screened more than 87,000 travellers in the country’s borders for Covid-19 infection.

Until 8 am (local time) on April 2, the Red Crescent aid workers have checked 87,786 travellers at border entrances, said Mohammad Hassan Ghosian Moghaddam, Secretary General of the Iranian Red Crescent.

So far, rapid tests have been performed on 16,630 people. Moreover, PCR tests have been performed on 3,864 people with Covid-19 symptoms.

33 people were sent to quarantine, according to IRCS Secretary General.

Iranian Red Crescent mandate in Iranian new calendar Year holidays is health monitoring of travelers in borders including ground, air, sea and rail frontiers.

For this purpose, 32 out of 100 border areas of the country have been entrusted to the Iranian Red Crescent to screen and monitor the people arriving in the country and taking measures for rapid testing and identification of patients with Covid-19.
