IRCS sets Record in COVID Vaccine Imports
TEHRAN, 05 September 2021 (IRCS) – The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) set a record in importing Coronavirus vaccines to the country with 5 million doses which arrived to Tehran on Sunday, 05 September.
This is the 18th consignment of Coronavirus vaccines that is imported to Iran by the Society, and the total number of vaccine imported by the IRCS has reached 25 million and 390,000 doses.
“Imports of 5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines into the country will continue,” said Dr Karim Hemmati, IRCS President.
“Last night, President Raisi emphasized that public vaccination depends on importing vaccines and all parts of the country involved in vaccination should double their efforts to vaccinate and import vaccines. So, based on the words of the President and as one of the organs in charge of vaccines, we have made vaccination and vaccine imports a priority of the Red Crescent's missions,” added Mr Hemmati.
More than 8,000 patients with Covid-19 were hospitalized in the Iranian Red Crescent’s Rapid Deployment Hospitals (RDH) between August 17 to September 4. According to the IRCS, 3,897 of them were man and 4,287 were woman.
Noor Afshar Hospital in Tehran which is affiliated to the Iranian Red Crescent has been designated as one of the hospitals in the capital which admit patients with Corona and has rendered services to more than 32,500 patients since the pandemic emerged in Iran.
