TEHRAN, 12 September 2020 (IRCS) - Writing a message on the occasion of “World First Aid Day”, president of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) emphasized that knowing the principles and skills of first aid is essential for all members of the society so that we can all be part of the vast chain of humanity.
The full message of Dr, Karim Hemmati reads as follows:
“The 157-year history of the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as the existence of the International Movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, is rooted in the "first aid" of Henry Dunant and his companion to the wounded people in the Battle of Solferino in the mid-nineteenth century which caused the proposal to establish voluntary and relief National Societies turn from thought to action, so that millions of people, thanks to God and the saving hands of rescuers whose main task is first aid, be set free from the hazards of disasters and come back to life.
“Nevertheless, getting to know the principles and skills of first aid is necessary for all members of the society so that we can all be part of the vast chain of humanity and be a clear example of the divine saying in the Noble Quran that saving the life of even one human being is tantamount to saving the entire humanity. (Surah Al-Ma'idah).
“Doors of the Red Crescent’s branches across the country are always open to all people for free first aid training, and it is an honor for this charitable organization that, in addition to providing first aid services to victims, also provides first aid training for all. It is possible for each of our compatriots to be aware of the importance of saving the lives of their fellow human beings in crises and to act on them in the event of disasters.
“The second Saturday of September which has been designated by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies as "World First Aid Day", hoping to see crises increasingly reduced, I congratulate this day to all relief workers of the Iranian Red Crescent who try to save the affected people in disasters and I implore God to held them succeed in their endeavors.”
