IRSC Serving summer travellers in coastal areas
TEHRAN, 13 July 2020 (IRCS) - Twenty-five temporary coast posts of the Iranian Red Crescent serve people and travellers around the country in summer.
These posts have been set up in the northern provinces of Gilan, Mazandaran and Golestan, the southern provinces of Hormozgan and Khuzestan, the eastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, and the north-eastern province of West Azerbaijan.
Nearly 1,500 people drown in beaches and rivers and in Iran each year.
In each coastal post, three relief workers and one driver are on duty fully equipped with medical and pharmaceutical sets including ambilances, first aid kits, tire and life vest, motor cycle, rescue boats, jet ski, stretchers, oxygen capsules, etc.
“According to statistics from the Red Crescent’s coast posts, in the last Iranian year the highest number of relief and rescue missions were carried out in aquatic areas including rivers (41%), beaches (23%), lakes behind the dams (18%) and other areas (8%),” said Mahdi Valipour, Head of the IRCS Relief and Rescue Organisation.
