Red Crescent offers relief services to more than 38,000 in summer
TEHRAN, 03 October 2020 (IRCS) - Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) provided relief services to more than 38,000 travellers during summer.
Totally, 8,133 relief and rescue missions were carried out by IRCS’ aid workers and rescuers to help 38,748 people who were affected by various incidents across the country. The Red Crescent teams saved 5,916 injured people in natural disasters and road accidents, reported IRCS Relief and Rescue Organisation.
Red Crescent’s relief workers also provided emergency and temporary sheltering for 2,211 people and transferred 4,460 injured to medical centers through Red Crescent’s helicopters or ambulances.
“58 percent of the relief missions in summer were related to road accidents,” said Mehdi Valipour, Head of the Relief and Rescue Organisation.
Furthermore, 25 percent of relief missions were carried out in the Northern provinces with 2,036 cases, mostly in Mazandaran which hosts thousands of people as tourists every year.
