Captain Vahid Dies at 64

TEHRAN, 23 June 2019 (IRCS) – Esmail Vahid, the former head of air relief unit of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), passed away on 22 June, at the age of 64.

Captain Vahid Dies at 64

He joined the Iranian Red Crescent in 1991, participating in numerous and major relief operations, such as Bam earthquake (2003) and East Azerbaijan earthquakes (2012). Captain Vahid was the first pilot of the air relief for the IRCS, too. He served as the head of air relief unit in the IRCS Relief and Rescue Organisation for 18 years and was one of the unit’s founders.

On the occasion of the death of captain Vahid, IRCS President Ali Asghar Peyvandi offered his condolences, expressing optimism that the experiences of captain Vahid would be used as valuable lessons for the next generations of relief workers.
