IRCS Distributes 120,000 Food Packages to Needy in Ramadan

TEHRAN, Jun. 23 (IRCS) _ Volunteers Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) distributed 120,000 food packages among the needy in the month of Ramadan under Homaye Rahmat Campaign.

 

TEHRAN, Jun. 23 (IRCS) _ Volunteers Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) distributed 120,000 food packages among the needy in the month of Ramadan under Homaye Rahmat Campaign.

The packages were provided by IRCS volunteers and benefactors and were handed out among needy people, including female-run households, orphans, disabled people, and families of prisoners who are not supported by any NGOs.

This year, 24,000 volunteers and benefactors participated in IRCS’s Homaye Rahmat Campaign across Iran.

IRCS volunteers also offered 3,474 fast-breaking iftar meals under Homaye Rahmat Campaign to 441,000 needy people.

Furthermore, 5,000 units of blood were offered to patients in need of them by volunteers at Iran’s Blood Transfusion Organization.

Habib Dargahi, acting head of IRCS Volunteers Organization, said promotion of services to the needy by relying on the financial support provided by benefactors, promotion of humanitarianism by relying on pure Iranian culture, prevention of livelihood harms, providing the basic needs for the needy, allowing participation of volunteers, benefactors and relief workers in humanitarian activities, reinforcement of voluntary moral and presence of volunteers in humanitarian plans were some of campaigns achievements.

Homaye Rahmat is a campaign implemented by the Volunteers Organization during Ramadan to supply food needs to needy families. Volunteers and benefactors participate in this campaign.

IRCS Volunteers Organization enjoys over 717,000 volunteer members and carries out voluntary activities such as supportive services to the affected vulnerable people in emergency and non-emergency situations, humanitarian campaigns for needy families and people, medical services by voluntary physicians, dispatching of benevolent caravans to the affected areas for health, etc.
