ZAHEDAN, Jan. 9 (IRCS) _ Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has launched a humanitarian campaign (GHOGHNOOS) aimed at providing heating equipment for elementary schools in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan that need such systems.

Referring to the fatal December-18 fire incident in Zahedan, which killed 4 elementary students, the IRCS Secretary General said on Wednesday, January 9, during the press conference of GHOGHNOOS Campaign: “The Iranian Red Crescent is looking for a basic solution to the problem and to prevent such incidents in the future.”

“In the first phase of the campaign, 250 radiator heaters have been dispatched to the province by the Iranian Red Crescent and they are being installed,” added Mahmoud Reza Peyravi.

He attended a school in Korin district, Zahedan county, to launch GHOGHNOOS Campaign.

Radiator heaters have so far been procured for 250 two-class schools of Sistan and Baluchestan Province and 270 others will be dispatched to the province by the next week.

In the next phases, three six-class schools will be equipped with package systems and schools with more than 6 calsses will be heated by heat pump.

Barakat Foundation has also joined the Red Crescent in this campaign.

IRCS Secretary General stressed that the Red Crescent was more concerned with taking measures to prevent the occurrence of such incidents for which education would be useful.

Moreover, the IRCS Volunteers Organization has invited people to participate in GHOGHNOOS Campaign.

Early Tuesday morning (December 18, 2018) a fire broke out in a pre-school center and an elementary school in Zahedan.
