KERMANSHAH, Nov. 25 (IRCS) _ Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) provided relief supplies to the people in quake-affected villages of Kermanshah.
KERMANSHAH, Nov. 25 (IRCS) _ Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) provided relief supplies to the people in quake-affected villages of Kermanshah, western Iran.
A 6.3 magnitude quake hit Sare-Pule-Zahab, Kermanshah, at 20:07 (local time) on Sunday, November 25. The epicentre of the quake was registered at 34.38 degrees latitude and 45.7 degrees longitude, at a depth of 7 km.
Red Crescent plans to distribute one-month food packages among the affected families within the next few days.
According to Ali Asghar Peyvandi, IRCS President, Red Crescent sent basic items, including blanket, mineral water and tent to the affected areas.
According to the latest reports, 729 people were injured by the quake in Kermanshah, mostly due to panic or rushing to exits, of whom 36 were hospitalized and the rest received outpatient services. All the injured were reportedly fine.

Due to minor cracking in several houses, Red Crescent distributed tents among the affected households of 13 villages.
"4,000 seventy-two-hour food packages were distributed among the people in 12 affected villages (4 villages in Ghasr-e shirin and 8 villages in Gilan-e ghrab). Every 527 quake-affected households have received the food packages." said Morteza Salimi, head of the IRCS Relief and Rescue Organization.
Red Crescent provided 5 relief helicopters to render relief services if needed.
Red Crescent dispatched 87 assessment and relief teams to the affected regions. 150 villages were assessed by the IRCS relief workers. No fatalities were reported from the temblor.

The quake was also felt in western provinces of Ilam and Kurdistan. 161 aftershocks were registered after the main quake.
Kermanshah is still recovering from a devastating 7.3 magnitude quake that struck last November, killing at least 620 people in the province.
