Kerman, Feb. 02 (IRCS) _ Iranian President Hassan Rouhani visited an earthquake-affected village in the southeastern province of Kerman and conversed with the villagers currently dwelling in tents provided for them by the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS).
Kerman, Feb. 02 (IRCS) — Iranian President Hassan Rouhani visited an earthquake-affected village in the southeastern province of Kerman and conversed with the villagers currently residing in tents provided for them by the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS).
President Rouhani, accompanied by Prof, Ali Asghar Peynavdi, IRCS President, visited the areas hit by earthquake in Gurak village on Friday, overseeing the ongoing relief operations. He also heard about the affected people demands.

A devastating 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit Hojedk city in Ravar County, Kerman Province, southeastern Iran, on Friday, 2nd December 2018 at 06:02 a.m. local time. The earthquake affected 21 villages in Hojedk District and left 51 injured. No deaths are reported. Over 460 aftershocks rocked the region with the biggest of them scaling 5.5 on the Richter according to the Iranian seismological center.
During the visit, President Rouhani appreciated the efforts of all of the organs and institutes including Red Crescent Society who have rushed to help the affected people in Kerman earthquake.

“All those who have lost their jobs in the aftermath of the earthquake or have been displaced and are now tenants, will also be eligible to the help and their losses will be compensated as much as it is possible,” Rouhani added.
Following the occurrence of the Hojedk quake, the Relief and Rescue Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent Society in response operations deployed 14 relief teams (including 70 operational relief forces, 40 relief vehicles, 6 ambulances, rescue dogs and 1 helicopter) to the quake-hit areas. The operational teams provided relief services in 21 villages and offered emergency shelters for 990 persons by distributing 152 tents in four camps among them.
Furthermore, the teams distributed over 2,000 blankets and canned foods among the earthquake-affected people.
