The full text of the message reads as follows:
“The Iranian Red Crescent Society has always tried to ensure the people, especially those who in need and affected by natural disasters, that they will be properly serviced by humanitarian and rightful duties of Red Crescent. People have also indicated they rely highly on the Red Crescent. The huge amount of public donations on the occasion of Kermanshah province earthquake is indicative of their affinity with the Red Crescent who tries to help them in any situation.
It is definite that this empathy and connection between people and Red Crescent is formed based on the extensive services of Red Crescent over the years, and nowadays, along with keeping this connection, it is becoming more stable in order to become more and more relief for human suffering.
The Red Crescent of the Islamic Republic of Iran is one the most influential one among the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The reason for this superiority is responsibility and efforts of volunteers, youth, and rescuers in and out of the country; they are pioneers in helping those who suffer from natural disasters and patients. A huge number of youth are volunteering and registering in the Red Crescent in order to help others and promote the culture of altruism. This is proof of the stable connection between the general public and the Red Crescent.
Today, the name of Red Crescent is known for the people from Iranian Capital “Tehran” to the remotest areas; people from all walks of life volunteer to join the Red Crescent including artists, athletes, lawmakers, and senior officials who choose to serve in the society; they consider IRCS to be the connecting piece between the rich, and the poor.
On the other hand, public awareness about the humanitarian activities of the Red Crescent has added weight to IRCS's responsibilities. The social media and new media outlets spread the news of Red Crescent activities all around the community, and people judge the Red Crescent more wisely and knowledgably. Therefore, the services of Red Crescent for those who are in need and those who suffer from natural disasters are becoming more tangible for the public, and in national campaigns and natural disasters, their activities are becoming more and more sensitive.
We believe that people are the fairest observers of Red Crescent’s activities. Red Crescent popularity in the society is easily inferred given the vast sums of cash contributed by the general public for the citizens affected by earthquakes. The nation's unparalleled altruism and philanthropic attitude can also be understood when they rush Red Crescent bases to offer in-kind contributions for their fellow citizens.
In the face of all this affection and confidence, Red Crescent commits itself to promote its relief and rescue capabilities and optimize its infrastructures to maximize its responsiveness in disaster times and offer training for compassionate youths ensuring a brighter future for the country.
In an accident-prone country like Iran, all the people expect Red Crescent in such kind of disasters; this makes IRCS responsibilities even heavier. Red Crescent workers do honor their allegiance to the people and remain steadfast in the belief that all they have is "of people" for people.
I congratulate World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day and Red Crescent Week to all the volunteers, relief workers, rescuers, youth and staff. I seek God’s sincere grace for everybody, and I want them more success. I implore Lord Almighty to grant the Iranian Red Crescent Society the privilege of serving the people of Iran and the people in need in the World. Amen.”
