GENEVA, Oct. 10 (IRCS) _ President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) Prof. Ali Asghar Peyvandi has attended the society at the 38th session of the Governing Board of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Geneva, Swiss, beginning on Monday, October 8.
Working groups and meetings of the regional vice presidents were held on Monday. The Asia-Pacific session was focused on regional conference in Philippine.
IRCS is a member of the Governing Board of the International Federation. The Federation’s Governing Board meets twice a year and has the authority to make certain decisions in between sessions of the General Assembly, which is the Federation’s supreme governing body. The Board ‘governs’ the Federation between two assemblies.
The working group of Governance Excellence and Gender Balance and was held in the presence of IRCS representative, reviewing the issue of how the Governing Board behaves and evaluates the meetings of the Governing Board.
The official meeting of the thirty-eighth meeting of the IFRC Governing Board officially began on Tuesday with the speech of the IFRC President.
During 3 days of the session, issues such as IFRC's 6-month financial report, determining the membership fee, reports of the Youth Commission, Audit and Risk Commission, Election Committee, and Compliance and Mediation Committee and entrance of the Federation to health world cover and the Strategic Value of Communications were considered by the members of the Governing Board.
