AHEDAN, July 4, (IRCS) _ President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) Prof. Ali Asghar Peyvandi has traveled to Sistan and Baluchestan to consider the impact of a drought that has gripped the southeastern province.

During the 2-day visit, Red Crescent efforts to offer relief to the affected people in Sistan and Baluchestan and neighboring provinces will be reviewed.

Prof. Peyvandi also meets provincial authorities and visit affected areas by drought.

“Among Red Crescent plans to offer relief to the affected people are launching the campaign of “Water Offering” and distribution of food packages among them,” said IRCS president upon arrival in the province.

“It’s necessary to exercise secondary prevention ways to stop or scale down drought in the region with the participation of other organizations,” noted Dr. Peyvandi. “Although provincial authorities have been taking good measures to reduce people's troubles, Red Crescent, as a public-benefit organization, considers its mandate to alleviate the sufferings of human beings and would tap all its resources for this effect.
