Following the tragic incident, Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) President Prof, Ali Asghar Peyvandi sent a message of condolence to PRCS President Dr. Younis Al-Khatib.
The message reads as follows:
Receiving your e-mail dated 10 June 2019, made us very sad, hence, I would like to express, on behalf of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, our deep condolences on the death of Mohammad Judeili, your EMT staff in PRCS Emergency Medical Services Center in Jabalia branch.
Undoubtedly, under the Geneva conventions 1949 and its additional protocols 1977, the death of your relief worker (while on duty) during the great Marches of return in Gaza Strip, is considered as the violation of IHL. From the perspective of IHL, health care personnel and relief workers are immune from any attack; therefore, their immunity must be respected and ensured by armed forces; however, we are witnessing the breach of such immunity again on 3rd March 2019 and I hope not to hear and witness of such violations anymore.
Hereupon, we extend our sincerest sympathies to you and the family of Mohammad Judeili and remain,
With my kindest regards
Prof. Ali Asghar Peyvandi
