IRCS President Visits Georgia, Russia

TEHRAN, 24 July 2019 (IRCS) – The Iranian Red Crescent Society’s (IRCS) President Prof, Ali Asghar Peyvandi, visited Russia and Georgia Red Cross Societies to meet with his counterparts and discuss future cooperation.

IRCS President Visits Georgia, Russia

During his visit to Georgia, IRCS president met with Ms, Natia Loladze, Georgia Red Cross President, as well as the officials of the Health Ministry, Disaster Management Organisation and Kakheti Red Cross branch.

During the visits, Iranian Red Crescent president and the Georgian organisations officials discussed cooperation in setting up a regional disaster management center, building a rehabilitation center as well as other cooperation in the fields of medicine and medical equipment, health tourism, providing relief items and concluding a sisterhood contract between Isfahan provincial Red Crescent branch and Kakheti Red Cross branch.

In Russia, Prof, Peyvandi met Russia Red Cross Chairman Mrs, Lukutsova Raisa Timofeevna, discussing cooperation in areas like implementing a relief and rescue field exercise and volunteers training.

The two sides also reviewed holding a meeting between Iran, Russia and other Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies which are affected by the US sanctions and suffer a severe situation to serve people, on the sideline of the Red Cross and Red Crescent international conference in Geneva in December 2019.

IRCS president and his accompanying delegation visited Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations and Russian helicopter factory.

Mr, Peyvandi also met with the volunteers of the Russian Red Cross and talked with them about the most important issues that volunteers face in their work.
