IRCS President Visits Norouz Posts

TEHRAN, 19 March 2019 (IRCS) _ Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) president concluded his tour to Red Crescent posts in several provinces, appreciating relief workers and youth’s efforts in the National Society’s Norouz Campaigns that began on 16 March.

IRCS President Visits Norouz Posts

Every year, the Iranian Red Crescent Society renders services to travellers and citizens across the country under the “Norouz Relief and Rescue National Campaign” and “National Campaign for the Safety and Health of the Norouz Travellers” during New Year holidays (Norouz) which begins on 21 March.

During the three-day tour, Dr, Ali Asghar Peyvandi visited the Red Crescent bases and posts in the provinces of Alborz, Ghazvin, Zanjan, Ardebil, East Azerbaijan and West Azerbaijan.

During the visits, a relief warehouse was inaugurated in Kowsar County, Ardebil. Also, two rescue vehicles were delivered to the provincial Red Crescent branch.

Furthermore, three rescue vehicles were delivered to the West Azerbaijan provincial Red Crescent branch.

“During the past year and a half we carried out many efforts to organize the process of recruiting the Red Crescent relief workers and rescuers,” said IRCS president. “We hope to achieve suitable results in the next year with the cooperation of concerned organizations.”

Mr, Peyvandi also met and talked with the provincial officials during his tour to the provinces.

This year, 5,500 relief workers and rescuers, as well as 12,000 youth of the Red Crescent, are rendering services to the travellers. The campaigns will run until 6 April.
