IRCS President Visits Red Crescent Medical Centers in Najaf
NAJAF/TEHRAN, 14 October 2019 (IRCS) – A few days ahead of Arbaeen which marks the 40th day of mourning after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), Ali Asghar Peyvandi, the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS)’ President, has visited Red Crescent clinics in Najaf.
Mr, Peyvandi who left Tehran for Iraq on October 13, visited IRCS clinics in Hotel Naba, Hazrat Zahra (s.a.) courtyard and IRCS’ Emergency Operational Center in Najaf.
Iranian Red Crescent president Prof. Peyvandi also met with his Iraqi counterpart, Dr. Yassen Al-Mamouri, discussing health tourism, establishing joint medical centers in Iraq and cooperation in the field of medicine.
“Considering the agreements made so far between Iran and Iraq, and putting the issue of Arbaeen aside, which is shared by the two friendly and brotherly nations, and given that efforts have been made to provide appropriate services to the pilgrims [during Arbaeen], it was agreed in three general areas to develop plans,” said the Iranian Red Crescent President.
“I express my gratitude to the Iranian Red Crescent for sending dozens of doctors, nurses and medical staff, medicine and medical equipment, ambulances and bus ambulances to help the Iraqi Red Crescent in the event that millions of people have come to Iraq to visit Imam Hussein’s (AS) Shrine,” said the Iraqi Red Crescent president. “The Iranian Red Crescent has been able to provide highly effective services to the pilgrims alongside the Iraqi Red Crescent.”
This year, Arbaeen is on October 19. Millions of people participate in Arbaeen trek and Iranian Red Crescent has provided relief and medical services to the pilgrims.
