In August and September, Iranian Red Crescent implemented Water Offering Campaign for the second year in the provinces suffering from drought and served the people and families affected by drought in the fields of health and livelihood services as well as drinking water. The campaign was carried out in the eastern provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan, South Khorasan, Kerman and in the southern province of Hormozgan. Water Offering Campaign was implemented for 40 days and ended on September 28.
On 29 September, in a press conference, Mohammad Nasiri, Head of the IRCS Volunteer Organisation, said that “the Red Crescent played only as an interface between volunteers and needy people in implementing Water Offering Campaign and the benefactors met all costs of the campaign which were estimated at nearly IRR 57 billion (nearly 1,400 million US dollars).”
277 specialist physicians, pediatricians, dentists and paramedics served 41,800 people, according to Nasiri.
Furthermore, 878 water tanks were set up in the provinces and 115,300 mineral water, 6,500 hygiene parcels and 4,800 food parcels were distributed among the people.
The IRCS Youth Organisation donated 7,000 stationery packages and 5,200 toys among the students and children.
