‎1,200 Relief Posts Ready for Norouz‎

TEHRAN, 16 March 2021 (IRCS) – President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society ‎‎(IRCS) said that 1,200 relief posts of the Society would serve the people all across ‎the country during New Year (Norouz) holidays of Iranian calendar which begins ‎on March 21.‎

Speaking to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Dr Karim Hemmati said: “The Red Crescent has no plan to implement National Campaign for Safety and Health of Norouz Travellers, but it has programmes for some provinces of the country where traffic is not prohibited due to spread of coronavirus. The programmes include boosting the relief posts up to 1,200.”

Referring to the Iranian Red Crescent mission in holidays of New Year, he noted: “Red Crescent mandate in New Year holidays is health monitoring of travelers in borders including ground, air, sea and rail frontiers,”

“32 out of 100 border areas of the country have been entrusted to the Iranian Red Crescent to screen and monitor the people arriving in the country and taking measures for rapid testing and identification of patients with Covid-19.”

In the past few days, the Red Crescent has launched its laboratories in seven borders to measure rapid coronavirus tests. Every day, more than 8,000 travellers and passengers are screened at these borders and if their test results are positive, they are transferred to the intended resorts and hotels.

Furthermore, the IRCS rescue helicopters will be deployed in 19 provinces to provide relief services.
