IRCS President meets Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity
Cairo (IRCS) – Pir Hossein Kolivand, President of the Iranian Red Crescent, met with Ms Nevine El-Kabbaj, Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, talking about volunteering activities in the field of the environment.
During the meeting, which was held on the sideline of On the sideline of MENA Humanitarian Leadership Conference in Cairo, Egypt, IRCS president said: “Climate change is one of the serious issues over disasters that must be addressed in a scientific manner and all countries must cooperate more to reduce the risk of disasters,”
He said that the Iranian Red Crescent is ready to cooperate bilaterally with Egypt’s Red Crescent and the Ministry of Social Solidarity over climate change.
Referring to the efforts of the IRCS volunteers in the various fields of environment, Dr Kolivand said: “We have already implemented projects with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in the field of environment and related educational topics for young people and volunteers, and these experiences can be transferred to the countries of the region through the Iranian Red Crescent.”
For his part, Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity said that Egypt is ready to cooperate with the Iranian Red Crescent in the fields of climate change and the environment.
“Climate Change is a new issue that harms people across borders so we must offer effective solutions to deal with the effects of climate change,” said Ms El-Kabbaj.
It was also decided in this meeting that the Red Crescent Societies of Iran and Egypt to exchange their experiences in the field of climate change.
