President Rouhani briefed on Red Crescent Services in Nowruz

TEHRAN, 23 March 2021 (IRCS) - Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani was informed about Red Crescent services in Nowruz via a video call to a Red Crescent post in Shahr-e Rey, Tehran province, and Dogharoon on the Afghanistan border in the eastern province of Khorasan Razavi.

In this online connection which was held through an LCD, Dr Karim Hemmati, President of the Iranian Red Crescent, offered a report about the Society’s efforts during Nowruz and recent disasters in the country.

President Rouhani emphasized observation of health protocols in travels during Nowruz, saying: “I appreciate Red Crescent efforts in Nowruz both for rendering relief to the affected countrymen and for the plans which are underway in the country’s borders  and congratulate New year to all hardworking staff of the Red Crescent,”

“When a disaster happen, someone who goes to the scene to render relief, does a great service because he acts as a deus ex machina in that disaster,”
added president Rouhani.

Referring to other mandate of the Red Crescent in this year’s Nowruz in land, air and sea borders, he described it very important, and said: “Those who enter the country may be infected with the coronavirus, especially the mutated strain of the virus, and this mandate must be carried out very carefully.”

Iranian Red Crescent has mobilized more than 12,000 rescuers in 1,205 relief posts to offer services to the Nowruz travelers across the country, said the IRCS president.

“So far, relief operations of the Red Crescent in Nowruz holidays have risen by more than 86 per cent year-over-year,” said Hemmati in his report to President Rouhani. “Statistics related to transferring of injured people to medical centers have risen by more than 100 per cent compared to last year.”
