Iranian Red Crescent responds to severe flooding in 142 Villages

Dr. Mahmoud Mozafar, Head of the IRCS Relief and Rescue Organization announced of providing relief services to 4500 flood affected people

Severe flooding in south and south eastern part of Iran has caused devastation in 25 towns and cities and 142 villages with reports of inundation, flash floods and river banks collapsing in the provinces of Sistan-u-Baluchestan, Kerman and Fars. 2200 people have been settled in safe emergency spaces in temporary relief camps to help respond to the disaster.
More than 450 IRCS relief workers and volunteers shaping in 40 relief teams have been helping people evacuate, providing first aid to those injured and are now distributing relief items such as 1200 tents, 4200 blankets and 3900 moquette and tarpaulins, said Dr. Mozafar Head of IRCS Relief and Rescue Organization.
Red Crescent distributions are ongoing in the affected areas and more relief stocks are on the way to be distributed to 2200 people living in temporary camps, he said.
Based on the latest information and reports, one person still missing and 4 have been transferred to the hospital for secondary treatments.
According to the IRCS Relief and Rescue Organization the damages in 7 cities and 96 villages in Sistan-u-Baluchestan province in Southeast of the country estimated to 770 houses and were assessed between 30 to 100 percent.
