President of the Iranian Red Crescent had a meeting with Iran's President Dr. Hassan Rouhani on Sunday 8th May and delivered a report about the activities of the Society during the last three years.

 During the meeting, Dr. Rouhani stressed on the importance of youth members and more attention to further recruitment of youth in the Iranian Red Crescent Society and said, "Education on health and relief and rescue services, organization and the acquirement of social skills in the Society can improve youth capacities and increase their mental freshness and participation capabilities in the communities,". He also believed on strengthening and equipping the Society as well as supplying needed facilities and emergency stocks in Red Crescent warehouses as an important necessity and the responsibility of government.

According to the activities report of the Iranian Red Crescent, the number of 3,121,302 people affected in disasters and incidents across the country have benefited from the humanitarian services of the Iranian Red Crescent during the past three years. In total, the value of services, operations and relief items provided by the Iranian Red Crescent is USD 521 million equal to 18,000 billion Iranian Rials. Out of 117,635 disasters, incidents and accidents occurred during the past three years, the number of 2,211,941 people have been saved during Red Crescent relief and rescue operations.

The Iranian Red Crescent has also provided relief and rescue services to 512 cities, villages and tribal areas for 3,376 people. Also, 10,633 people have received relief and emergency sheltering and distributed relief tents and food items in the total value of 1,237,000 Iranian Rials as other services rendered to people by Red Crescent. The report also indicated that more than 743,000 people participated voluntarily in the Red Crescent humanitarian programs in the past three years.

 World Red Cross Day is held annually around the globe on 8 May, the day that Red Cross Red Crescent founder Henry Dunant was born.
