Flood Kills 80-year-old man in East Azerbaijan

TEHRAN, 16 July 2021 (IRCS) – IRCS aid workers provided relief services to ‎affected people after heavy rains caused inundation and flooding in three ‎provinces.‎

The rainfalls started on July 15 and caused flooding in the northeastern provinces of West Azerbaijan and East Azerbaijan and drought-prone province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

The flood killed a 80-year-old man in Osku in East Azerbaijan and impacted two cities and eight villages in West Azerbaijan. The Red Crescent’s aid workers  pumped water out of two houses.

In eastern provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan, the heavy rains affected 43 villages. The Red Crescent teams sheltered 16 people who have been impacted by the inundation and flooding. Relief operation is continuing in Sarbaz County, according to the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) Relief and Rescue Organization.

Following forecast of Iran Meteorological Organization over the possibility of floods in 11 provinces, posts and branches of the Iranian Red Crescent were put on standby.
