Head of German RC Task Force visits Isfahan

Ms. Tiana Hickel, Head of Task Force of MENA International Cooperation Department of German Red Cross visited the Iranian Red Crescent Society on 17 ~ 22 November 2015.

In her programme, Ms. Hickel met with Dr. Momeni, Managing Director of Isfahan Red Crescent provincial branch and his deputies on Wednesday 18 November 2015 and also visited Red Crescent Training Centre for Sniffing Dogs in Saveh city, 100 kilometres away from Tehran. She personally observed the training process for 9 selected sniffing dog trainers of Iranian Red Crescent by two German facilitators.

In his meeting with Ms. Hickel, Dr. Momeni explained the various activities of central and district branches of Isfahan Red Crescent and stressed on the services provided by Red Crescent volunteers, youth members and relief and rescue workers on the road, air, mountain, marine and industrial incidents throughout the province. He added that the relief and rescue services are also rendered to 9 neighbouring cities in time of disasters as well as in case of their need.

Ms. Hickel also mentioned the main challenge of the German Red Cross is the refugees’ influx to Germany. Dr. Momeni also pointed out that Isfahan Red Crescent provincial branch has experience in the refugee and Internally Displaced People issues and his branch had been involved in erecting the Internally Displaced People camps during eight year war of Iran and Iraq. “The readiness of sniffing dogs team of Isfahan Red Crescent provincial branch is on good level,” said Ms. Hickel during her visit in Saveh.

She also paid a visit to the Iran Helal Applied Science Higher Educational Institute, Emergency Operating Centre and International Specialised Relief and Rescue Training Centre as well as Sniffing Dog Training Centre in Najafabad.

Ms. Hickel got acquainted with Red Crescent activities particularly in the fields of the public, specialised and academic trainings, computerised system, relief and rescue equipments as well as local, provincial and international specialised courses.
