Heavy floods inflicts huge damage in south western part of Iran

Severe weather, including thunderstorms, hail storms, heavy rains and floods has affected 18 provinces in northern and western parts of Iran on Tuesday, 27 October 2015 and seven people are reported to have died as a result of the severe weather and one person is reported missing.

Dr. Naser Charkhsaz, head of the Relief and Rescue Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) announced that relief operations have been conducted from 27 October in the affected provinces. During the operations more than 8,500 affected people received relief services and flood water was pumped out from 388 houses, 11 persons were treated by IRCS emergency health teams in the field and 93 persons were transferred to medical centers while another 18 persons were rescued from rubbles, 30 persons were evacuated to safe areas and 860 people were sheltered.

He also has added that in these operations 240 IRCS teams consist of 1000 relief workers and rescuers were involved and equipped with 195 relief vehicles, 50 motor pumps and a helicopter.

The relief items such as 180 tents, 1300 blankets, 350 moquettes, 225 heaters, 450 canned food, 7000 loaves of bread and 3000 drinking water bottles were distributed to the affected people by Iranian Red Crescent during this operations.

According to the reports of the IRCS relief and Rescue Organization floods have also affected neighbouring provinces of Lorestan, Kurdistan and Kermansha which the rescue and relief operations have been conducted by the Iranian Red Crescent to the affected population
