IRCS, German Red Cross Sign MOU

Tehran (IRCS) – The Iranian Red Crescent Society signed a MOU with the German Red Cross in the fields of relief training and volunteering services.

On Saturday morning, Dr. Volkmar SCHÖN, Vice-President of the German Red Cross, met with Dr. Yaghoub Soleimani, IRCS Secretary-General, in the IRCS’ Building of Peace, discussing common cooperation.

Two sides also signed a MOU in humanitarian fields such as relief, volunteering, serving needy people and RFL.

“The Iranian Red Crescent is ready to cooperate with the German Red Cross in the various fields such as aid workers training,” said IRCS Secretary-General Yaghoub Soleimani. “IRCS also can share its experiences in the fields of Red Crescent Houses and volunteering services.”

During the meeting, the German Red Cross Vice-President said: “The service of the Iranian Red Crescent Society to foreign nationals and needy groups is commendable, and the German Red Cross is ready to cooperate with the Iranian Red Crescent in this regard.”

“Also, the Iranian Red Crescent has been able to use the capacity of the people well by establishing Red Crescent Houses in different places, and this is a good experience that other societies can benefit from,” added Dr SCHÖN.

According to the IRCS Secretary-General, the Iranian Red Crescent provided Covid-19 vaccination for five million Afghan nationals who are living in Iran.

The Vice President of the German Red Cross has traveled to Tehran to attend the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Iranian Red Crescent.
