IRCS, ICRC to distribute Coronavirus hygiene packages among Afghan Citizens in Dugharoun Border
TEHRAN, 16 August 2020 (IRCS) - Afghan nationals will receive protective masks, gloves and disinfectant gel at Dugharoun border when leaving Iran.
The distribution of Corona health packs among Afghan citizens is carried out jointly by the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS)’ Relief and Rescue Organization, International Affairs and International Humanitarian Law Division and International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Tehran.
Representatives of the mentioned bodies held a meeting in Dugharoun's Mine Risk Awareness Centre.
Dugharoun border terminal is placed in Khorasan Razavi province, north-east of Iran and in the border between Iran and Afghanistan.
This border is 255km away from Mashhad, the center of Khorasan Razavi province and 30km from Taibad border city in Khorasan Razavi province. Harat in Afghanistan with 122km distance is the nearest city to this border.
Iranian Red Crescent has set up a mine awareness training centre on the Dugharoun border since 1984.
All Afghan nationals leaving Iran must attend Red Crescent training classes before leaving Iran. “In line with the humanitarian objectives of the Iranian Red Crescent, in addition to mine risk training, self-defense training and the distribution of health items are provided to Afghan nationals leaving Iran,” said Mohamamd Ali Kavousi, Head of the specialized training department of IRCS Releif and Rescue Organisation.
According to Kavousi, due to the spread of the coronavirus and in order to increase the safety and health of people, educational brochures on how to protect themselves against the coronavirus are distributed. In addition to these brochures, a personal protection package including protective masks, gloves and antiseptic gel are also handed to individuals.
