IRCS boosts Services to Combat Covid-19 + UPDATED‎

TEHRAN, 14 August 2021 (IRCS) – The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has mobilized all its facilities in ten provinces to fight Covid-19 and respond to the public needs as the country combats the Delta variant of the virus.

At present, in 79 universities of medical sciences, the young members of the Iranian Red Crescent who serve as volunteers at the IRCS student clubs at the universities are participating in vaccination of the public.

The IRCS young volunteers have taken the necessary courses for vaccination of people. Totally, Red Crescent is present in 15 vaccination centers in 10 provinces.

In Tehran, the capital, 1600 students who are volunteers of the Red Crescent are ready to collaborate in the plan. So far, 350 students in 45 centers are participating in public vaccinations, said IRCS Secretary General Dr Mohammad Hassan Ghosian Moghaddam.

Furthermore, the IRSC Youth Organization is implementing the two national campaigns of Nazr-e Salamat (Health Offering) and Khademan-e Hosseini (Hosseini's servants) as it did last year in Muharram, which is the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar, which began on August 10 this year. Young volunteers screen and check the temperature of people who have taken part in Imam Hussein's mourning ceremony.

They also distribute masks among the people who don’t wear them and disinfect the places where the mourning ceremonies have been held. The young volunteers also ask the mourners to observe a distance of 2 meters in the ceremonies.

Furthermore, Red Crescent has rendered free services to patients like lending them medical equipment such as oxygen cylinders from the Red Crescent medical equipment bank.

The Iranian Red Crescent has established five Rapid Deployment Hospitals (RDH) to provide outpatient services to Covid-19 patients. Red Crsecent’s field hospitals have been set up on the site of select hospitals in the provinces of Khorasan-e Razavi (two hospitals in Mashahd and Sabzevar), Isfahan, Hamedan and North Khorasan.
