Increasing the Joint Cooperation between the Iranian Red Crescent Society and the IFRC Africa Zone

The President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society pointed out to the last two years activities of IRCS in Africa region, particularly in Somalia as well as the IRCS willingness to develop the cooperation with IFRC Africa zone in disaster management, rehabilitation, health and treatment

 

Dr. Abolhasan Faghih, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society met with Mr. Alasan Senghore, Director of the Africa Zone of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies here in Tehran on Tuesday, 23 July 2013.

On the commencement of the meeting, the President affirmed Mr. Senghore as an experienced and well known colleagues working with the IFRC and National Societies and continued that the bilateral cooperation between IRCS and IFRC Africa Zone is considered as a positive cooperation based on the IRCS permanent and temporary activities in Africa.

He added that at the time being 12 IRCS clinics are rendering their related services to the African countries in this continent and we witness the IRCS outstanding initiatives in Somalia and have the necessary ability to extend our cooperation with IFRC in various fields of disaster management, rehabilitation and treatment.

In follow, Mr. Alasan Senghore, Director of the IFRC Africa Zone added that we know the IRCS valuable and comprehensive activities in Africa and you have to make necessary arrangements to disseminate and reflect all of your programs and objectives in Africa to all. He welcomed the continuous cooperation even without the signature of MOU and said an office has been established in Ethiopia which works in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross in disaster management and the related legal affairs.

Director of the IFRC Africa Zone also emphasized on the joint cooperation such as risk reduction in disasters, food security and disaster management and stated that the IRCS is able to support many of the IFRC programs in Africa region because of its capacity and humanitarian willingness.

At the end, Mr. Senghore hoped that such MOU will be signed between IRCS and IFRC Africa Zone before the end of this year and then it is planned to make it operational.

During his trip, Mr. Alasan Senghore, will pay a visit to the IRCS different sectors such as Health, Treatment and Rehabilitation Center, Relief and Rescue Organization, Iran Helal Textile industries, Higher Educational Institute and Educational Research Center and Hospital of Noorafshar.
