TEHRAN, 16 July 2020 (IRCS) - According to the Iranian Red Crescent’s President ‎Dr Karim Hemmati, the Society will import one million vials of influenza vaccine to ‎prevent the two diseases of influenza and corona from spreading simultaneously ‎in the country.‎

“Due to the spread of corona in the country, the necessary measures have been taken to deal with it, and we will import one million vials of influenza vaccine, in the first stage,” said IRCS president.

“Preliminary work has been done and as much vaccine as needed will be imported by the Red Crescent so that we do not have both influenza and coronavirus at the same time and at least have the lowest rate of disease in high-risk people so that we can overcome both diseases.”

It was 19th of February 2020 that entrance of coronavirus to Iran was officially confirmed. Since then, the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has made every effort to combat the disease. IRCS volunteers and relief workers set up fever screen stations at the entrance of cities. They have also sanitized public palces, prisons, deprived areas, etc. Furthermore, after recovery of the first group of the patients, the IRCS set up Recovery Centers in some provinces to help patients to recover from the illness. The Recovery Centers in Qom, Qazvin, Zanjan, Golestan, etc. were set up by Red Crescent for the purpose of offering services to patients with high risk.
