The meeting of Health Care in Danger was inaugurated with the speech of Dr. Abolhassan Faghih, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society and the welcoming notes of Mr. Mohammadi Araghi, IRCS Under-Secretary General for International Affairs & Humanitarian Law and Mr. Ryter, Head of the ICRC Mission in Iran.

The program was followed by the speech of Mr. Mardini, Head of ICRC Operation in Near & Middle East as well as Dr. Enayat, Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Dr. Sadre, Head of the Iranian Medical Council, in the conference hall of Parsiyan Evin hotel on Tuesday, 12 February 2013 in Tehran. All of them emphasized on the importance of protection of the health & treatment teams of the armed forces.

The representative of the MSF, Non-Governmental Organizations, Organization for defending Victims of Violence as well as the IRCS Deputy Council & heads of the different Organizations of the Iranian Red Crescent Society participated in this ceremony.
The representatives of the National Societies including Ivory Coast, Uganda, Egypt, Iraq, Palestine, United Kingdom of Great Britain, Germany, Norway, Spanish, Syria, Indonesia, Nepal & Iran and the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as IRCS Under-Secretary General for International Affairs & Humanitarian Law have participated in these 3 days event.
The main objective of the meeting in Tehran is to identify the challenges which National Societies face in rendering health care services to beneficiaries in armed conflict and other emergencies and consequently to determine the specific recommendations and practical measures to address these challenges.
Besides that the four main topics will be discussed in the meeting, including the challenges of the National Societies in safe access to the health care, the role of the National Societies in rendering of treatment care in armed conflict and other emergency situations, increasing of acceptance, access and operational security of the National Societies and the role of National Societies in strengthening the support to the patients & the wounded.
