Starting the population movement of more than 370,000 from Myanmar across the border to Bangladesh since the end of August 2017, a humanitarian crisis aroused in the region that demanded the engagement of humanitarian actors including International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent.
Considering the scope and magnitude of the humanitarian needs, Iranian Red Crescent Society, according to its humanitarian mandate and in response to the needs of affected groups, has dispatched the first relief consignment including tent (212 units), blanket (660 pcs), ground sheet (600 pcs), food stuff (7500 bottles of edible oil, 7777 pack of sugar, 1500 pack of tea and water), kitchen utensil (300 pcs), and one pallet of medicine (27866 kg) to Bangladesh. The relief items have been distributed among the displaced in the border camp in Cox's Bazaar in coordination with International Federation and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society. Also, necessary coordination has been made with Myanmar Red Cross to provide and dispatch the second relief consignment to Myanmar.
The relief consignment was accompanied by a team from the Iranian Red Crescent. The team had met national and international parties involved in the operation for exploring effective ways in rendering humanitarian services.
