IRCS President Meets Family of Slain Rescuer

SANANDAJ, Aug. 4 (IRCS) _ The President of Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) met the family of Koohsar Fatehi, a Red Crescent rescuer who was killed 2 weeks ago by unidentified armed persons.

Prof. Ali Asghar Peyvandi visited Kurdistan Red Crescent provincial branch in western Iran on Saturday.

IRCS President paid a visit to the road relief base of Morvarid Mountain Pass in Kamyaran City where Koohsar Fatehi, 41, served as an Iranian Red Crescent rescuer for years, and met with his colleagues.

At 10:30 pm, July 20, while driving a Red Crescent ambulance, Koohsar Fatehi was shot by 2 unknown persons. The reasons and motives for the murder are still undiscovered, and detectives are looking for clues to find the perpetrators of this bloody attack.

Mr. Peyvandi also met with the Koohsar Fathehi’s family. Referring to his non-stop services to people, IRCS President said: “The Red Crescent family was deeply affected by hearing about the shootout and Koohsar’s martyrdom. Certainly, he who is martyred with the outfit of relief and service to people enjoys so much glory before God.”

He also noted that Iranian Red Crescent will follow up the reasons behind the incident and will always stay with the family of that devoted martyr.

Furthermore, a humanitarian cup was granted to Koohsar Fatehi’s son for years of his honest services and efforts in Dadras National Plan (literally, prepared students for difficult days).

During the trip, IRCS President also visited the air relief base of Kurdistan Red Crescent provincial branch, logistics and preparedness complex for relief and rescue of Kurdistan Province, and Salavat Abad’s road relief base.

Prof. Peyvandi met with the staff of Kurdistan Red Crescent branch.

Highlighting Red Crescent’s major mandates during the meeting, IRCS President said that alleviating the sufferings of human beings was the most important mandates of the Red Crescent, and “all the Red Crescent means must be mustered to materialize this goal as well as promote the public health in such areas as rehabilitation.”
