Red Crescent, National Organization for Civil Registration Sign MOU
TEHRAN, 25 November 2019 (IRCS) – Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) and Iran’s National Organization for Civil Registration (NOCR) have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance relief and voluntary services in disasters through data of the affected people.

According to the MOU which was signed by Ali Asghar Peyvandi, IRCS President and Hamid Derakhshan Nia, head of NOCR, when a natural disaster occurs the Red Crescent can use the data of people which is registered in the National Organization for Civil Registration, including location and household data.
“Many people like to contribute to people’s work in some way, and we can use the NOCR system to organize volunteers, as well as for relief and rescue,” said IRCS president during the signing ceremony of the MOU. “We faced conditions in Kermanshah earthquake that some areas were severely damaged and we did not know exactly how many households dwelled in the area.”
More than 170 Iranian organisations, institutions and ministries are connected to the country’s Population Database.
The location of 54 million people has been registered in the Database.
