Since 27 February, 163 towns, villages and nomad groups in the provinces of East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Ardebil, Isfahan, Alborz, Ilam, Bushehr, Tehran, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, South Khorasan, Khuzestan, Zanjan, Semnan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Fars, Ghazvin, Kurdistan, Kerman, Kermanshah, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Golestan, Lorestan, Mazandaran, Hormozgan, Hamedan and Yazd were impacted by flood and snowstorm.

Aid workers provided emergency sheltering to 453 people in Red Crescent relief bases, schools and mosques

Relief workers and rescuers of the provincial Red Crescent branches rendered relief services to 11,791 people. 123 people were transported to safe places.

Red Crescent distributed 1,666 blankets, 593 ground sheets, 988 food parcels, 543 canned food, 205 loaves of bread, 59 kg dates, 521 bottles of mineral water and 638 packages of biscuits among the affected travellers and people.

“Aid workers provided emergency sheltering to 453 people in Red Crescent relief bases, schools and mosques,” said Morteza Salimi, head of the IRCS Relief and Rescue Organization. “204 people transported to the nearby medical centers and 182 received outpatient services.”

Relief workers also recovered 707 vehicles which had been stuck in snow or flood. Furthermore, water was pumped out of 129 houses.

Relief services of the Red Crescent are under way in Sistan and Baluchestan, Khuzestan, Kerman, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad.
