The consignment, which was sent by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, includes 166 kitchen sets, 3,000 sets of mattresses and blankets, 75 tents, 150 water pumps, 5 inflatable boats, 140 work uniforms, 32 relief and rescue uniforms, 200 rescue vests and two excavation machines.
The aids arrived in Iran from the Astara border, Guilan, and were delivered to the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS).
So far, relief consignments of Germany, Turkey, Kuwait and Azerbaijan have been received by the Iranian Red Crescent. Furthermore, some international organisations and agencies have announced sympathy with the Iranian people and voiced their readiness to send essential items and equipment for flood-affected people.
The Iranian Red Crescent officially has launched the most urgent needs for the flood-stricken people.
Torrential rainfalls started in several provinces of Iran in mid-May triggering flash floods. The floods displaced tens of thousands of people and left 70 dead in the provinces of Fars (21), Lorestan (15), Golestan (8), Hamedan (8), Mazandaran (6), North Khorasan (3), Ghazvin (2), Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad (2), Khorasan-e Razavi (1), Khuzestan (1), Semnan (1), Qom (1), Kermanshah (1).
