A deadly gas explosion occurred in Dinar-Abad village, Shahryar County, Tehran Province, on Thursday, February 28, at around 17:10 local time, causing two deaths, injuring 11 and destroying several residential houses.

Following the incident, Red Crescent, firefighting and medical emergency services dispatched teams to Dinar-Abad.
The gas explosion occurred between two adjacent houses, inflicting 50 percent damage to the buildings. Two other houses were fully destroyed by the explosion.
Red Crescent dispatched a debris search and rescue team, a sniffer dog team, 16 rescuers, two ambulances to the spot of the incident to do search and rescue operations.
“Red Crescent’s sniffer dogs managed to find a woman three hours before locating her two-year-old baby alive from beneath the debris,” said Hossein Ketabdar, managing director of the Tehran provincial Red Crescent branch. “Unfortunately, a young woman died in the incident. Also a boy, 8, injured by the explosion died on Friday morning.”
The explosion also damaged some vehicles that were parked near the incident. Relief operations ended after five hours.
