Women Successful in IRCS Activities
TEHRAN, 7 August 2019 (IRCS) – Ali Asghar Peyvandi, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), met with experts and consultants of the Women and Family Affairs Divisions in the Society’s organisations, departments as well as provincial branches on Wednesday, 7 August.

During the meeting, which was held at the IRCS Headquarters, the experts and consultants outlined their views on the Society’s issues related to women.
Furthermore, the IRCS President said that the Society’s structures in the field of women needed to be reviewed, adding: “We plan to promote the status of the women in the Society and exploit them in senior positions like deputy directors, etc. and this is done with consultation with you as the representatives of women in the Society.”
Prof, Peyvandi also described the presence of women in the Iranian Red Crescent activities and relief operations as successful.
The Iranian Red Crescent has 8,500 personnel of whom 20 percent are women. Moreover, 30 percent of the 60,000 IRCS rescuers are women and they also include 48 percent of IRCS volunteers.
